Chicago Senator and Presidential hopeful Barack Obama beat fellow Democratic front runners Hillary Clinton and John Edwards in the highly anticipated Iowa Caucus last night. With a 38% of the voters agreeing with Obama's demand for change and unity in America, I hope and strongly believe that America is finally going to see an African American in the White House, none more fitting than Mr. Obama. At his rally for caucus attendees after his first place finish, he spoke eloquently and with great poise stressing that he planned to restore moral standing in America, bring our troops home from Iraq, and promised not to use situations such as 9/11 to scare up votes, rather our country should use those situations that challenge us should unite America and the world against common threats in the 21st century.
He went on to say "Hope is the bedrock of this nation, the belief that our destiny will not be written for us but by us, by all those men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, but who have the courage to remake the world as it should be. That is what we started here in Iowa and that is the message we can now carry to New Hampshire and beyond."
He also thanked his beautiful wife, Michelle, for being the love of his life, and his daughters Sasha and Malia.
From some of the polls, it seems that Obama's popularity amongst younger voters and caucus goers could have been what propelled him into first place position.
